Have you any information on an old cottage, perhaps named oyster cottage, now demolished but was built somewhere on Chosen Hill.
Thank you. worn@

There was once a cottage built on the very top of Chosen Hill, but I don’t know anything about it or what its name was. Can anyone else help?

Perhaps the church at the top of Chosen Hill may be able to help with the name of the cottage? As an apprentice painter & decorator for Pickfords & Sons (London Road) and I once worked in the Church.
My father worked at Fielding & Platt until his death in 1970. Reference pictures, I understand that the Gloucester Citizen have some old Christmas parties for children of the employees, one year I got a Fire Engine from Father Christmas! oh, and the jelly & ice cream was marvellous! paul@

An extremely good site with so many photos of places that I remember as a child in the 50/60’s especially of the paddling pool in the park! which was on our doorstep (Linden area) pity not to see any photos of Linden Road Secondary school as it was such a fine building. Paul@

I agree with your comment about Linden School. We are always on the lookout for old photos, but as yet have not come across one.

Gloucestershire Regiment in the Park Picture. I remember it well! I was in the middle I think.

Central School for Girls. I have a photograph taken in Feb 1928 of the whole of the school. I don’t have any knowledge of Gloucester and I was wondering whether anyone has heard of this school, whether it still exists and what it is called now.
Many thanks. Richard@

The Central Secondary School for Girls is now closed, but was in Derby Road, Barton St. Mary’s, (better known as just Barton), Gloucester. The area is up for redevelopment. (This reply dated 29/10/06)

My name is Nick Wagner the only remaining son of Roderick Wagner Formerly of Garnalls Rd, Matson. I believe that Ivor Wagner was my dads uncle, with my grampy being Billy Wagner of Garnalls Rd also. My dads other uncle is Pete Wagner married to Pearl (God rest her soul). They were both boxers years ago also.
I now live in Scotland but the rest of my family are still in Gloucester.
I would be hugely greatful if we could exchange some info on our relative pasts so I can put together our family tree or at least as much as we can find.

Further research by the Archives Office at Gloucester shows that Central School, Gloucester became Colwell High School for Girls in 1974 and closed in 1988. The Archives Office have a number of records for the School so the photograph is being sent to them and this is an ideal home for it.
