Hi wot a great walk down memory lane!! Thanks for that!!
Are there any pictures of lower Westgate St. Interested in Foresters Yard, Nags Head Yard, Glass House Yard area. Any idea?
Love the site. How often are new pics added??
Robin@

Sorry Robin, but I don’t have any of the above as yet. The site is updated about once a month, but this is not always possible.

This site continues to grow and is an excellent resource.
I like the new railway section. If I could add one correction, the second picture in the Gloucester Central section is actually Gloucester Eastgate.
Roger@

Thank you for pointing that error out, Roger. The fault has now been corrected.
If anyone else finds a mistake on this site, please let me know.

We just love looking at the old photographs. Can you tell me where the name Barton (as in Barton Fair) originated?
sam@

The dictionary definition is: The demain lands of a manor, the manor itself and sometimes out-houses.

Just spent a very happy hour looking at your pictures. The very first one of the Punch and Judy show has three of my sons in the picture. What a thrill to see them. Two of them were at the Crypt school when we lived in Gloucester.
My husband was a designer at Gloster Aircraft. Left in 1968 to come to the USA where I and two of the boys live. The other two are still in the UK. I think your web site is wonderful and shall continue to visit. Thank you.
Pictures of the prefabs in Tuffley really took me back. Lived there in 1949!!! Margie@

I’m very pleased that the pictures have brought back happy memories and what a surprise for you to see a picture with three of your sons on the Internet. A small world.

G’Day. I was the person that sent the picture of the Punch & Judy Show at St.Aldate’s Church to this site.
I am amazed that someone with relatives in it saw it and now live outside of Gloucester.
I now live in Mudgeeraba, Queensland, Australia. I left U.K in 1976 for Australia. However at the time lived in Finlay Road. My father also worked at G.A.C after WW2 until the late 1950s and I remember going to their Christmas Party as a very young child. I thought that the only brothers in the picture were named Kidd.
I would be delighted to know the family name of the others in the picture, as I already know quite a few from that time of the picture. If you wish, please contact me through the site editor.
