Old Gloucester
An interesting little film taken in 1965 of the
Gloucester Carnival and entertainment that
was provided on the old bandstand.
In those days, the entertainment lasted two
weeks and consisted of various acts including
acrobats, jugulars and even high wire trapeze.
There was no charge to view, but if you wanted
a seat, it would cost you sixpence.  In this film we
can also see the judging of Miss Gloucester.
In the evenings, Henry Blythe, a well known
Hypnotist, held a show in a large marquee.
They certainly knew how to hold a Carnival
In those days.
